Tides in the Night

The currents of our heart run deep

Some bright, some in shadows that weep

Some that seep into the vast waters of our night

No matter how those waters may thrash and fight

Yet, they don’t always make a sound

No matter how tall those tides crash in height

Some of them are pulled too far down

No matter how far those currents swell out of sight

Some of them are not meant to see light

No matter how turbulent those waves toss and churn

Sometimes it’s best that they never learn

If our souls make an endless sea

Only the surface is openly free

But thats okay, it’s not all meant to be seen & heard

Not every feeling needs to have a word

But where there are no words, we can still know

It doesn’t take the rain in our eyes to see our pain flow

To accept there are tides in the night that we might never show

Simply enough we just need to keep in mind

That what we find on the surface is not all

There is vast depth to every one of us, no matter how small

Regardless of how serene the sea seems

There are tides out of sight, outside of our wildest dreams
